1# Use Local Job Portals

Local job portals are one of the best methods that we use to find the right employees quickly. Among many reasons to start with this option, one reason is: most employees are already familiar with them. As they need a job, they visit such portals and find jobs.

Such job posting platform formats have built a good reputation and branding and have a large pool of Turkish workers. Spend a few bucks and start screening and hiring. That’s it.

These local job portals are Kariyer.net, Yenibiris.com, and Secretcv.com. A quick tip here is to post jobs in English and Turkish.

Each post should have a clear job description that should highlight benefits, company culture, visa/relocation info, etc. Use industry keywords to improve visibility internally within portals and in search engines.

Pros: This option is best for active job seekers, and fast reach.

2# Partner with Recruitment Agencies

2 Partner with Recruitment Agencies

Hiring in an overseas country is not easy. There are many things involved due to cross-border challenges. Employees’ psychology matters. Local labor laws and compliance are bottlenecks.

But when you partner with recruitment agencies, they not only help you hire employees but also provide you with other benefits as well. These include Turkish law compliance, quick hiring, screening, onboarding, and termination.

This option is best for entry-level roles and senior executives. They can hire from niche industries like IT, finance, and marketing. A quick tip here is to choose agencies with foreign company experience.

Pros: Access to pre-vetted candidates, saves time, and ensures quality.

3# Leverage LinkedIn for Recruitment

Leverage LinkedIn for Recruitment

If you want to hire specific roles like developers, writers, digital marketing roles, or higher executive roles, go for LinkedIn.

There are four ways to find the right talent on LinkedIn.

  1. Post the atomic essay (250 to 300 words) that covers job details and also add media (images/visuals/videos) for good engagement. Post from your profile instead of the company page for better reach and trust. Hashtags also matter.
  2. Run paid ads using LinkedIn built-in platform. This works well and fast. You can also add screening questions for better applicants. The process is simple: add job details, select locations, add screening questions (optional), and run ads. You can pay per day, which gives full customization.
  3. Use a connection method and whoever accepts the invite, directly DM them. Most people don’t actively look for jobs, but when they are approached and find a good opportunity, they start considering opportunities.
  4. Use a Sales Navigator, which is a LinkedIn built-in system for finding very specific roles. It offers a lot of filters and, with some plans, gives you options to send DMs (called InMail) directly.

4# Attend Local Job Fairs and Events

If you are in Türkiye, visit local job fairs and events. You will get two benefits. They are already visited by employees who need jobs and opportunities, and you’ll also understand the competition in your industry and what methods your competitors are using.

The main cities in Türkiye to visit such events are Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir. These events could be career fairs, university recruitment events, and industry expos.

You can have many benefits from these events, like meeting candidates in person, assessing soft skills, and building a local brand.

Quick tip here is to bring brochures/job descriptions in English and Turkish, short company presentations, collect resumes, and follow up fast.

5# Use Employee Referral Programs

This method is very useful for finding very good talent. Employees know other employees better than employers, and referral programs can get you what other resources don’t provide.

Referral programs include current employees, contractors, and local contacts. They provide you with trusted candidates, faster hiring, and better retention.

A quick tip here is to offer incentives (bonus or gift card). Always keep the referral process simple and clear. Only start communication with eligible roles.

6# Engage Freelancers and Contractors

Use freelance platforms like Upwork, Fiverr, and Bionluk to find workers for short-term work needs. Bionluk is a Turkish local freelance platform, and such freelancers can transition their roles to full-time employment.

Use this technique: first approach them with small projects, evaluate them, and then convert them into full-time roles.

Quick tip here is to use clear contracts, defined scope, deadlines, and payment terms. This option is good for specialized tasks.

7# Collaborate with Universities

Some roles could be short-term despite being full-time positions. One such role is sales representatives for cold calling. In this case, companies need a consistent source of new hires, and collaborating with universities is the best option.

You can offer paid internships, test new young talent, and hire talented people. Such an audience is also eager to find new opportunities full-time but mostly part-time. Famous universities in Türkiye are Bogazici, METU, and Koç, Sabanci.

The employers can get full-time hires who are close to completing their graduation. They access fresh, motivated talent and build a long-term pipeline. You can also train candidates to company needs.

A quick tip here is to first offer an internship, then convert it into full-time employment. Attend career days and run workshops/mentorship.

8# Post on Social Media Channels

You’ll be surprised to know that the average time that social media takes for each person is 2 hours and 21 minutes DAILY. 84% of all users are Gen Z and younger Millennials (roughly ages 18–29 years).

You have got that posting the job can be a smart decision. But this option is best for some roles and not fit for others. Your approach for hiring on social media should be job ads with visuals and clear descriptions. Hiring managers get benefits like reaching a younger audience, building an employer brand, and quick engagement.

9# Work with an Employer of Record (EOR)

Employers of record could be the best and RECOMMENDED hiring solution for foreigners in Türkiye. You don’t need to register a local entity, while all other ways of hiring require it. An EOR handles payroll, fully complies with local labor laws, and some EORs like FMC Group also handle recruitment under a single service.

This option is best for small- to medium-size companies that want to hire a few employees or only want to test the market first.

Quick tip here is to choose an EOR with international clients and industry experience, and clarify costs and responsibilities. This is ideal for testing markets or remote hires.

Bonus Method: Use Meta Paid Ads

If you want to hire using your own legal entity without the involvement of a third party, go for Meta ads. The process of hiring is simple:

  1. Create images and prepare text that should have a headline, description, and call to action.
  2. Select audience interests like “job seeker,” locations, budget, and places to show ads like Instagram and Facebook.
  3. Select the method to get leads. It means what the applicant should do, like send messages on Meta platforms such as WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook, or fill out forms.
  4. Screen the candidates’ resumes and schedule interviews.
